Roble Briefs International Partners on Deal Signed with Opposition Candidates Recently

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble briefed Somalia’s international partners on the deal he recently signed with the opposition.

On February 25, Roble held a meeting with the Council of Presidential Candidates Union, which represents opposition politicians interested in vying for the presidency.

Several regional state leaders were also at the meeting, which took place at Decale Hotel in Mogadishu on Thursday night.

The agreement was signed a few hours before the opposition candidates were scheduled to hold an anti-government rally at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Roble held a virtual meeting with the country’s partners.

He updated them on that deal.

Roble also informed them about a soon-to-be-held meeting between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).

According to Roble, the meeting would enable both sides to remove barriers towards implementation of the September 17, 2020 electoral agreement.

Moreover, the Prime Minister addressed the partners on election management and security.

He talked to them about the mandate of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) as well as on Transitional Security Plans.
