Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has congratulated the regional state of Puntland for holding senatorial elections successfully this week.
Puntland held elections for its 11 representatives to the Upper House (Senate).
It has become the first Federal Member State (FMS) to hold elections for all its senators.
Last week, Jubaland and Southwest held their own elections, which are incomplete. In this regard, Puntland is ahead of the rest of the country.
Roble, who is currently in Kenya on an official visit at the invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta, also commended the Puntland State Election Implementation Team (SEIT) for a sterling job.
He urged the remaining regional states to up their elections and allow Somalia to prepare for presidential polls later this month.
