A senior Al-Shabaab commander surrendered himself to the Somali National Army (SNA) on October 17.
Security sources confirmed news that Mohamed Kulow Ali handed himself over to the SNA troops on Sunday.
He did so in a town in Bakool region known as Wajid.
Mohamed Nur, an SNA army officer, informed reporters of Ali’s surrender.
Nur stated that Ali has been in charge of running Al-Shabaab’s operations in the region.
Ali took himself to the SNA soldiers armed with an AK47 rifle and several rounds of ammunition.
The terror group is yet to comment on the latest development.
