The Somali National Army (SNA) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) jointly launched a Joint Operations Coordination Center (JOCC) in Mogadishu.
SNA and AMISOM launched the JOCC on September 22.
While launching it, officers from SNA and AMISOM announced that the JOCC would help in stabilizing Somalia by identifying and degrading extremists from Al-Shabaab.
The center will be based at the AMISOM Headquarters in the national capital.
Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, the SNA Chief of Defence Forces, launched the center officially with Maj. Gen. William Kitsao Shume, AMISOM’s Deputy Force Commander in Charge of Operations and Plans.
Military officers from SNA and AMISOM are to run the center.
Gen. Odowaa asked for more cooperation between SNA and AMISOM to make the center a success.
