SNA Captures Key Sections of Mudug Region

The Somali National Army (SNA) has captured key sections of the Mudug Region after carrying out a military operation in the area.

Sources said that the army was in Qaycad, Mudug on August 2.

Ahmed Fiqi, the Minister of Interior of Galmudug State, confirmed that the operation was a success.

According to Fiqi, SNA forces not only liberated Qaycad but also recovered a cache of weapons from militants in the region.

Fiqi said that the SNA forces would continue with their military operations in the region.

SNA sources also stated that they had carried out the operation in different parts of Mudug such as Qodqod Wisii, Qaycad, and Camara among others.

Several extremists were killed during the operations.

The operations are part of the latest offensive by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to eradicate or reduce the presence of militants in Somalia.
