Somali Ambassador Hails Regional Leaders’ Efforts to Reduce Tension in HoA

Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC), Ilyas Ali Hassan, has welcomed efforts by regional leaders to find ways of reducing tensions in the Horn of Africa.

He said this when responding to Kenyan President William Ruto’s remarks at the 24th Ordinary Summit of EAC Heads of State in Arusha over the weekend.

President Ruto mentioned that leaders from Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Uganda are planning a meeting to address tensions in the Horn of Africa.

Amb. Ilyas, who is part of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s delegation, emphasized Somalia’s commitment to regional peace and stability, expressing optimism about collaborative efforts to address shared challenges.

He highlighted Somalia’s active role in fostering dialogue and strengthening regional partnerships through the EAC and other platforms.

This development aligns with ongoing initiatives to reduce conflict and improve cooperation in the Horn of Africa, particularly amid persistent security and geopolitical concerns.
