Somali-Americans who stole COVID-19 funds used the proceeds to purchase luxury apartments in Nairobi.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) published a report on the fraud that took place with the COVID-19 funds.
According to the FBI, more than $230 million set aside to help people deal with the COVID-19 pandemic was stolen.
FBI has singled out 42 Somali-Americans for the crime.
American investigators said that the 42 individuals ran a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme in the United States.
They lied about running children feeding centers.
FBI discovered that the fraudsters then used the funds to buy luxury vehicles and apartments in Minnesota, Nairobi, and Turkey.
