Somali Government is Not in Talks with Al-Shabaab, Declares Sheikh-Ali

The Federal Government of Somalia is not in talks with Al-Shabaab.

National Security Advisor Hussein Sheikh-Ali confirmed this during an interview with the media on Friday.

Sheikh-Ali said that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has already indicated the conditions that Al-Shabaab must adhere to before any talks.

Some of these conditions include severing any links with global terror groups.

It is an open secret that Al-Shabaab has close ties with Al-Qaeda.

Secondly, Sheikh-Ali added that Al-Shabaab has to accept the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

The third condition is that Al-Shabaab must demonstrate a willingness to participate in Somalia’s political affairs peacefully.
