Somali MP Accuses Farmaajo of Seeking to Destroy the Federalist System

Abdirizak Mohamed, a Somali Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Representatives, has accused President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of seeking to destroy federalist system.

Mohamed, a former Minister of Internal Security and ex-Minister of National Resources, made his views known on February 7.

In his view, Farmaajo has failed to prepare the country for elections over the course of his first term in office.

Farmaajo’s term expires on February 8 at midnight.

Mohamed stated that Farmaajo had four years to prepare the country for elections, which he failed to do.

Secondly, he also accused Farmaajo of failure to reconcile with various political actors around the country.

“Farmaajo knew he could never succeed in leading the country alone yet continued ignoring other political actors who would have made his work much easier,” Mohamed said.

More importantly, he said all these points to a man who has been focused on destroying the federal system that seeks to bring prosperity and security to all Somalis.
