JIGJIGA — The President of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, traveled to Jigjiga today for high-level regional meetings with leaders from the Horn of Africa.
Upon arrival at Garad Wil-wal Airport, the President and his delegation were received by the President of the Somali Regional State, Mustafa Omar, alongside local authorities and community representatives.
High-Level Regional Summit
In Jigjiga, President Mohamud held critical discussions with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Abiy Ahmed, and the President of Djibouti, H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The leaders focused on the security and political situation in the region, seeking solutions to existing challenges and aiming to strengthen economic cooperation.
According to official statements, the Somali Federal Government prioritized diplomatic efforts during these talks to ensure the consolidation of Somalia’s unity and sovereignty.
Delegation and Development Projects
President Mohamud is leading a high-ranking delegation, which includes Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama and other key officials.
In addition to the diplomatic summits, the President is scheduled to participate in the inauguration of several development projects implemented in the Somali Region, designed to boost the local economy and improve public services.
The visit highlights the ongoing engagement between Somalia, Ethiopia, and Djibouti regarding shared political, economic, and security goals in the region.
