Somalia and Ethiopia Interested in Maritime Treaty Brokered by Kenya

Somalia and Ethiopia are both interested in a maritime agreement that was brokered by Kenya.

Korir Sing’oei, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed this to an international media house.

Sing’oei added that the talks between President William Ruto and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had been quite productive.

According to Sing’oei, Somalia and Ethiopia are interested in the Kenyan-brokered treaty.

The PS added that President Mohamud and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia had been urged to hold move the process forward.

The treaty would honor Somalia’s territorial integrity while providing a stable and predictable access to maritime resources to Ethiopia.
