Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Omar, met on Monday with Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu to explore avenues for expanding economic cooperation, advancing infrastructure projects, and bolstering security partnerships.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks underscored both nations’ commitment to enhancing bilateral relations as a means of promoting regional stability and sustainable development. The discussions touched on strategic investments in key infrastructure sectors, trade facilitation, and collaborative security initiatives aimed at countering regional threats.
Omar welcomed China’s continued engagement in Somalia’s development agenda, noting that infrastructure and security remain vital to the nation’s long-term stability. Ambassador Wang reiterated Beijing’s readiness to deepen cooperation and contribute to Somalia’s reconstruction and economic growth.
The meeting comes as Somalia seeks to attract more foreign investment and partnerships to drive post-conflict recovery, diversify its economy, and strengthen its role in regional diplomacy.
