The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) announced that it will no longer receive people traveling from countries that are worst-hit by Coronavirus.
Specifically, FGS listed the countries as Italy, Republic of Korea, China, and Islamic Republic of Iran.
Furthermore, the notice also mentions that people who transited any of the banned countries in the last 14 days will not enter Somalia.
The move is one more step that the country’s Ministry of Health has instituted to keep the virus that has killed thousands of people around the world from spreading in Somalia.
Somalia’s health ministry advised officials from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation to suspend flights from China, Italy, and most affected countries as precautionary measures.
It also asked Somalis to limit their social interactions while adhering to a high standard of hygiene.
Somalia is on high alert after several of its neighbors in the Horn of Africa region reported their first Coronavirus cases in the last week.
