Operating under the alliance known as the Forum for National Parties, Somali’s opposition political parties donated $200,000 to help victims of the country’s recent flood recover from their massive losses.
According to the alliance, its donation was for providing humanitarian aid, which victims in Beledweyne, Bardale, and other affected areas craved.
While donating, the alliance announced that it established two special teams whose sole responsibility would be the coordination of all assistance efforts.
On 2nd November, Wajadir, one of the country’s opposition parties, began trucking water and offering mosquito nets to boost the ongoing relief efforts.
The devastation occurred when River Shabelle flooded, thus causing massive losses and chaos in Bay, Gedo, Middle Shabelle, Hiran, and several areas in Lower Juba.
In the past week, the country’s federal government has been working closely with international relief agencies to deliver aid to all the affected citizens.
