Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, Somalia’s Minister of Health and Social Care, attended a virtual meeting on COVID-19 with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO’s Director General, also attended the meeting, which was held on Thursday August 13.
During the meeting, held on Zoom, Dr. Abikar took the opportunity to brief Dr. Tedros and other WHO member states on the country’s COVID-19 preparedness.
The meeting was specifically organized to help member states to brief each other and share information pertinent in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her briefing, Dr. Abikar mentioned the prevailing situation in the East African nation.
She also talked about the achievements that the health ministry and the entire Federal Government of Somalia has enjoyed fighting the novel coronavirus.
Furthermore, Dr. Abikar talked about the challenges Somalia continues facing in this fight and the solutions that the country is working on to change the situation.
