Somalia recorded 257 new COVID-19 cases from samples tested over the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health confirmed.
On February 20, the health ministry reported testing 257 new cases.
Banadir Region accounted for 255 of the new cases while HirShabelle and Galmudug states had a single case each.
From these numbers, 183 were male while the remaining 74 were female.
Consequently, the tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the East African nation has now reached 5,889 after 127 other new cases were reported on February 17.
The number of recoveries is 3,757 after 15 people were treated and discharged from hospital.
There were no fresh deaths recorded too thus ensuring that the tally of deaths remains at 194.
The health ministry has warned the public to be extra vigilant after a resurgence of COVID-19 cases was recorded around the country.
