Somalia Remains Committed in Fight against International Terrorism, President Tells UNGA

“Somalia remains committed in the fight against international terrorism,” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said.

President Mohamud said this during his speech at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Somali President addressed fellow world leaders at UNGA77 on Thursday, September 22.

In his speech, the Somali President urged global leaders to abandon the policy of containment.

President Mohamud said that the current strategy of containing or limiting Al-Shabaab to specific areas while keeping it from expanding to others would not guarantee long-term results.

He told UNGA77 that terrorists must be defeated comprehensively.

The Somali leader informed his colleagues that the East African nation will defeat terrorists now that it enjoys unmatched public support.
