President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt recently held a bilateral meeting in Cairo, where they signed a significant defense agreement on Wednesday.
This agreement aims to strengthen security cooperation between Somalia and Egypt.
The accord underscores the commitment of both nations to collaborate more closely on defense matters, enhancing their ability to address regional security challenges and promote stability.
This development is part of broader efforts to deepen ties between the two countries, particularly in areas crucial to national and regional security.
Lately, Egypt has come to Somalia’s defense in the latter’s ongoing diplomatic row with Ethiopia.
It has vowed to keep supporting Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which the East African nation accuses Ethiopia of breaching.
