Somalia to Benefit from £14 Million the UK is Releasing to East Africa

Somalia is set to benefit from a windfall of £14 million that the United Kingdom is releasing to East Africa.

Vicky Ford, the United Kingdom’s Minister for Africa, announced the release of “time-critical and life-saving” funding to East African countries on August 19.

While announcing the release of the funds, Ford indicated that it would help countries in the region to “address the suffering of their people.”

Furthermore, the funds would avert the loss of life, especially at a time when the ongoing drought has worsened the humanitarian situation in the region.

She asked the international community to prioritize a collective response to the ongoing crisis in the region.

Somalia is one of the worst affected countries in the region after the rains failed for the fourth consecutive season.
