Somaliland VP Hails Outgoing UNICEF Representative’s Role in Improving Children’s Welfare

Hargeisa – Somaliland’s Vice President, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi , officially bid farewell to Wafaa Saeed, the outgoing UNICEF Representative to Somalia, during a ceremony held in Hargeisa on Friday.

The Vice President praised Saeed’s contributions to child welfare, health, and education in Somaliland, acknowledging her efforts in strengthening cooperation between UNICEF and local institutions.

“Your commitment to improving the lives of children and vulnerable communities in Somaliland will always be remembered,” said VP Aw Abdi.

Wafaa thanked the Somaliland government for its partnership and support during her tenure. She also expressed confidence in continued collaboration under her successor.

UNICEF has been a key partner in supporting essential services across Somaliland, particularly in health, nutrition, education, and child protection.
