Borama, Somaliland – The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, officially inaugurated the Heegan Multi Specialist and Teaching Hospital today in a landmark ceremony held in Borama.
The state-of-the-art facility is poised to transform specialized healthcare and medical education in the region.
Established by a consortium of Somaliland’s most experienced and highly trained doctors, Heegan Hospital is designed to serve as both a leading treatment center and a premier institution for professional medical training.
With advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, the hospital aims to elevate the standard of care available to the public.
Upon his arrival, the Vice President was warmly received by the hospital’s executive team and given a comprehensive tour of the facility.
He was briefed on the hospital’s specialized departments, high-tech equipment, and its strategic vision to become a national and regional model for medical excellence.
In his keynote address, Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi lauded the founders for their initiative, professionalism, and commitment to the health and well-being of the nation.
“This hospital is a beacon of what Somaliland can achieve when expertise, patriotism, and vision come together,” he stated. He also called on the hospital staff to uphold high ethical standards and deliver compassionate care.
The launch of Heegan Hospital is aligned with Somaliland’s national development priorities, which include bolstering healthcare systems, enhancing local capacity, and improving access to quality medical services across the country.
