Authorities in Somaliland have arrested a woman accused of molesting a teenage domestic worker.
They arrested her following complaints from social activists.
Wadani Party also lodged a complaint with authorities after the video of the woman threatening the teenage worker surfaced online.
The woman was identified as Zamzam Kahin.
She was accused of violating the rights of the young domestic worker.
Mohamed Sidik Dhame, an official of Wadani Party, led calls for the woman’s arrest.
He appealed to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the judiciary to work closely together to not only arrest Kahin but also charge her in court.
Dhame confirmed that his party already presented a lawsuit against the woman to the labor and social affairs ministry.
The video of the woman abusing the young girl has gone viral over the last 21 hours.
Somaliland’s labor and social affairs ministry is yet to comment on the video, the ensuing uproar, and the subsequent lawsuit presented by social affairs ministry.
