The Southwest State Reconciliation Conference has kicked off in Baidoa.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud led several officials from his administration in traveling to Baidoa for the conference that kicked off on Tuesday.
He was with Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe of the federal House of the People (Lower House).
Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohammed Laftagareen attended the conference to find solutions for the leadership squabbles that have rocked the region in the last few months.
Primarily, the squabbles arose out of the desire to extend President Laftagareen’s term.
