Suicide Bomber Hits Mogadishu Hours after US Defense Secretary Visited the City

A suicide bomber reportedly killed eight people in the streets of Mogadishu on November 27 leaving residents shocked and in great pain.

The incident took place just outside a popular restaurant known as Gelato Devino, which is not far from the famous KM-4 Junction.

Sources said that the suicide bomber walked into the busy restaurant on Friday evening.

Upon arrival, he detonated himself thus causing several deaths and injuries while destroying property of unknown value.

The incident left Mogadishu reeling in shock and pain.

It took place only a few hours after the United States Acting Defense Secretary, Christopher Miller, visited the city.

Gelato Devino is only a short distance away from Halane Base Camp, which hosts the headquarters of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

It is also close to Jazeera Hotel, the venue used by opposition presidential candidates who recently meet for five days to discuss issues relating to the upcoming elections in Somalia.
