The Taiwan Expo has kicked off in the Somaliland capital of Hargeisa on Thursday, November 4.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the trade expo jointly with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei (IEAT) also joined the foreign affairs ministry and TAITRA in ensuring that the 2021 Taiwan Expo in Somaliland takes place.
Over the last two years, Taiwan’s diplomatic relations with Somaliland have improved significantly.
More than 130 business representatives and officials from the Somaliland government attended the opening ceremony.
Alexander Yui, Taiwan’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the launch online.
Later, Yui was also in a video conference with Mohamed Hassan Saad, Somaliland’s Minister of Commerce, Industries, and Tourism.
The two leaders discussed improved trade relations between their respective nations.
