Tension between Farmaajo and Roble Increases as Yasin Reinstates Sacked NISA Officers

Tension between outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Moham,ed Hussein Roble appear to be increasing after two officers of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) who were recently sacked got back their jobs.

Reports from Mogadishu indicate that Fahad Yasin, the Director of NISA and a close confidant of Farmaajo, reinstated the two officers.

Last week, Prime Minister Roble sacked Abdullahi Kulane and Abdiwahab Sheikh. Kulane had been the Deputy Director of NISA prior to his dismissal. Sheikh served as the spy in charge for NISA at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

Roble dismissed them from work citing their continued display of disrespect to civilians.

Yasin has now reinstated them albeit in different positions.

Kulane would now work as NISA’s Political and Security Assistant while Sheikh’s is to continue serving the spy agency as the Director of Planning and Technology.

The timing of the changes is quite suspect. Yasin has reinstated the officers just when Prime Minister Roble is in London attending the London Global Education Summit.
