Two People Commit Suicide in Puntland as Drought Decimates Their Livestock

Two people have committed suicide after the ongoing drought decimated their livestock in the regional state of Puntland.

Reports from the region indicate that a mother and a 24-year old man killed themselves on September 13.

The Puntland Drought Relief Committee announced the sad incident on Tuesday.

Sheikh Osman Mohamud, a member of the Puntland Drought Relief Committee, the man and woman killed themselves after the ongoing drought left them without any livestock.

Mohamud said that the ongoing drought has killed the livestock of many families in the region.

The wife of the man who killed himself had just recently given birth.

However, without livestock and a livelihood, the man was unable to provide for his family hence the decision to end his life.
