United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) supports the training of 250 girls in Somaliland through a local non-governmental organization known as SOHASCO.
The training, which SOHASCO conducts, is designed to equip the girls with a wide array of life skills such as tailoring, makeup and beauty, and cooking.
On October 19, UNFPA recommitted itself and its resources to the training, which it terms “critical” in the face of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The global pandemic has reduced the ability of youths and women to work and earn a living.
Consequently, UNPFA promised to increasing engagement and empowerment with the youths of Somaliland in 2020 and beyond.
UNFPA stated that the training is part of its commitment to equip young people with skills that validate their leadership abilities.
