UNICEF Seeking $7 Million to Fight Malnutrition in Somalia

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has launched an urgent appeal for $7 million to fight malnutrition in Somalia.

UNICEF launched the appeal on Tuesday this week.

A statement from the global organization shows that it needs to raise those funds by March 31, 2022.

The funds would go towards supporting over 1.4 million Somali children from different parts of the country.

Millions of Somali children are at risk of acute malnutrition.

UNICEF would invest the funds in 104,000 boxes of Ready to Use Therapy Foods (RUTF), which is essential for treating children diagnosed with severe-to-acute malnutrition.

Further, RUTF would also enable UNICEF to avert possible deaths.
