US Congratulates Somalia for Hosting the Frontline States Summit

The United States has congratulated Somalia for hosting a regional summit to discuss counterterrorism measures.

Somalia-Frontline States Summit took place in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hosted his counterparts from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.

Kenya’s President William Ruto, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh all attended the Summit.

In its press statement, the US hailed the leadership of the four neighboring countries for joining hands to find terrorism.

It commended them for their commitment to the eradication of terrorists from all parts of Somalia.

“A terrorist-free Somalia means increased security for the whole of East Africa,” the US said.
