3,000 Al-Shabaab Fighters Killed in First Phase of Counterterrorism Operations

Three thousand Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the first phase of counterterrorism operations in Somalia.

Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, the federal Minister of Defense, said this on Tuesday.

He was speaking during an event held to celebrate the achievements of the cabinet ministers in the last six months.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud graced the event.

Intense counterterrorism operations kicked off earnestly in Somalia last year after President Mohamud formed his government.

Nur added that 4,000 terrorists were injured in the military operations.
