The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) donated tons of food items to vulnerable households in Lower Jubba.
ATMIS contingent from the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) based at the Tabda forward operating base (FOB) handed out the supplies on Thursday.
They mostly focused on people made vulnerable by natural disasters in Lower Jubba.
Farah Nur Abdi, the officer commanding Somali National Army (SNA) troops in the region, commended ATMIS and KDF for the donation.
Abdi urged residents to work closely with security officers to secure the region against terrorists.
ATMIS made the donation through its Civic-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative, which it relies on to strengthen its relations with local communities.
