A terrible inferno reduced property of unknown value to ashes in Mogadishu on the night of May 19.
The fire started on Thursday evening and burned until late in the night.
Businesses and shops at a popular and busy shopping complex in Mogadishu’s Digfer Road were destroyed in the inferno.
The complex is right at the Banadir junction in the Hodar district.
According to witnesses, faulty electrical wiring caused the fire.
Local residents were the first to rush to the scene to attempt to put the fire out before officers from Banadir Police Force joined them.
Farhan Qarole, the Banadir Regional Police Commander, led the officers in the mission to put out the fire.
