A Federal Member of Parliament (MP) has called for more support for Galmudug State in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
MP Mahad Salad urged the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and other stakeholders to extend assistance to Galmudug.
The semiautonomous state has been caught up in an intense war against the extremists in recent years.
According to Salad, the militants seem to have increased their attacks in several areas of Galmudug.
He accused them of blowing up and destroying multiple villages, wells, roads, buildings and other infrastructures.
On Friday, members of the Al-Qaeda linked group stormed their way into El-Dhere, a village located 30kms away from Dhusamareb.
The Federal Parliament legislator issued his call for increased support on January 15, a few hours after Al-Shabaab’s forceful entry into El-Dhere was widely reported.
