Former Somali President Moves from His Jazeera Residence

A former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia has moved from his residence in Jazeera.

Sheikh Sharif Ahmed said that he had to move over fears for his life.

He said that the recent decision by the Lower House to extend President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s term has left him a bit apprehensive.

Ex-President Ahmed has now moved to a neighborhood in his constituency.

His immediate former residence is close to the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, which has experienced a bit of insecurity in the recent past too.

There are reports that Hassan Ali Khaire, a former Prime Minister of Somalia, could also move from his current residence for the same reason.

Abdirahman Abdishakur, the leader of Wadajir Party, is also scheduled to move.

Many of Somalia’s international partners, such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union, have criticized Farmaajo’s term extension.
