IDPs in Balcad Face Acute Food Insecurity, Declares OCHA Somalia

A joint assessment conducted by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Somalia in Hawadley, Balcad district, on 19 November highlights severe humanitarian concerns.

First, the assessment showed that the displaced populations are facing acute food insecurity, with a critical absence of primary healthcare services.

Additionally, OCHA discovered that around 70 percent of the 360 children evaluated during this period were found to have acute malnutrition.

These alarming findings underscore the urgent need for immediate intervention to prevent further loss of life and provide essential support to the affected communities.
