IGAD Meets FGS over Somalia’s Row with Kenya

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) held a meeting with senior officers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) over the country’s diplomatic row with Kenya.

The fact-finding team from IGAD met FGS officers along Somalia’s border with Kenya.

Afterward, the team traveled to Mogadishu for further talks with senior representatives of the administration of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

Towards the end of last year, Somalia wrote a protest letter to IGAD.

In the letter, Somalia listed a series of complaints it has against Kenya. It sought IGAD’s intervention to solve the differences between the two Horn of Africa neighbors.

On Sunday, the fact-finding team held a meeting with Abdihakin Hassan Ashkir, the State Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister.

It is not clear whether the IGAD team has met any official of the Kenyan government.
