Catriona Laing held discussions with the President of Somalia for the final time in her capacity as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations.
Laing’s meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took place at Villa Somalia on Saturday.
For the last two years, she has served as the SRSG in Somalia.
However, her tour of duty finally comes to an end.
President Mohamud commended Laing for the crucial role she played in enhancing the partnership between Somalia and the UN in key areas.
Some of these areas include security, peace, and humanitarian activities.
She held goodbye talks with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre too on her last day in the country.
