A National Fisheries Development Conference has kicked off in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland.
President Muse Bihi Abdi opened the conference on Wednesday.
The event brings together key stakeholders from the fisheries sector, including government officials, experts, business leaders, and international partners, to discuss strategies for enhancing fisheries’ sustainability and growth.
The conference aims to explore opportunities to expand the industry, address challenges such as illegal fishing, and improve the livelihoods of coastal communities.
Additionally, participants will focus on policy frameworks, investment opportunities, and strengthening the fisheries supply chain to boost economic development in the region.
Top government officials joined investors and other key stakeholders at the conference to discuss ways of growing the sector in Somaliland.
