Policeman Who Killed Senior Somali Police Commander Handed the Death Sentence

A police officer who murdered a senior Somali Police Force (SPF) commander has been handed the death sentence.

The Somali Armed Forces Court found the officer guilty of the crime, which took place in Hodan district a year ago.

Mohamed Nur Sheikh Abdi Waare, the police officer, was found guilty of killing Ahmed Ali Abdi on March 17, 2021.

Evidence presented at the military court showed that Waare murdered Abdi at the headquarters of the Revolutionary Department.

Fellow officers arrested him before he could escape.

Judge Mohamed Abdi Mumin of the military court informed Waare that he is free to appeal the sentence within the legally permissible timeframe.
