A senior commander of the elite Danab Forces lost his life during clashes between federal government troops and Sufi militia.
Major Abdilatif Ahmed Fayfle lost his life in the clashes that took place on October 23.
According to sources, Maj. Fayfle was part of the team that were in Guri-El to take on Sufi militia who threatened to overrun the region.
Fayfle was one of the more than 20 people who were killed during Saturday’s deadly clashes.
The clashes started when federal troops arrived in the region to recapture Guri-El town, which fell into the hands of Ahlu Sunna militia a few weeks ago.
It’s unclear whether Maj. Fayfle was in the region with permission from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) though.
