President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has sent congratulatory messages to the newly-elected President of Somalia.
Bihi congratulated President-elect Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who emerged victorious in elections conducted on Sunday, May 15.
Bihi was speaking during an event held to celebrate the 31st Anniversary of Somaliland’s declaration of independence from Somalia.
President Bihi wished Mohamud success as he embarks on his endeavors as the 10th President of Somalia.
Nevertheless, he advised Mohamud to respect Somaliland’s status as a sovereign nation.
He bemoaned the fact that Somaliland was yet to receive any kind of recognition from Somalia despite celebrating over three decades of independence.
