Several opposition parties and leaders in Somaliland held a farewell event in honor of the outgoing European Union (EU) Ambassador to Somalia.
Nicolas Berlanga is leaving his post as the EU Ambassador to Somalia.
On Sunday, July 25, he met with leaders from two of Somaliland’s largest opposition parties; that is, UCID and Wadanni.
The leaders who met Ambassador Berlanga included Faisal Ali Warabe and Abdirahman Irro, who are in charge of Justice and Welfare Party (UCID) and Wadanni Party respectively.
During the event, the two leaders led their parties in commending Ambassador Berlanga for brokering a deal between the opposition and the government.
They said that those talks with the government allowed Somaliland to hold elections.
Additionally, Warabe and Irro also expressed gratitude to the outgoing EU Ambassador for supporting various development projects around the country.
