Three Civilians Killed in Street Clashes between Somaliland Police and Opposition Supporters

Three civilians have reportedly lost their lives in violent street clashes between Somaliland police and opposition supporters.

Opposition supporters have kicked off a series of protests around the country.

Their protests are against rumored plans by President Muse Bihi Abdi’s administration to postpone the elections due for November 2022.

The Human Rights Center (HRC) Somaliland issued a report by the police confirming the deaths of three civilians in the August 11 protests.

HRC said that it has no further information beyond what the police have reported.

The HRC took the opportunity to condemn the violence that took place mainly in Hargeisa and other parts of the country on Thursday.
