The Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC) has received universal acclaim for the historic polls it conducted on May 25.
TPEC was in charge of the largely successful local government elections that took place on Wednesday.
On Friday, several international partners of Somalia commended the electoral body for the polls.
The polls are historic in that they represent the first time any region in Somalia has conducted one-person-one-vote (1P1V).
Some of the partners that congratulated TPEC and Puntland state include the European Union, Germany, Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States among others.
They said the polls were a “historic achievement.”
