500,000 Children Immunized in Benadir as Health Ministry and UN Launch a Joint Campaign

A joint immunization campaign between Somalia’s Ministry of Health and the United Nations has produced massive results.

Through this joint campaign, over 500,000 children have been immunized in Benadir region.

The massive immunization campaign was necessitated by the challenges that COVID-19 pandemic has presented to the healthcare system in Somalia.

Many kids are unable to receive their regular jabs because of fear on the part of their parents and health workers.

Consequently, the UN partnered with officials from the health ministry to ensure that children continue to receive their regular vaccinations.

Further, the exercise, which involves offering vaccinations for measles and polio, is now expected to spread to other parts of the East African nation too.
