Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – On Monday, Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Ilyas Ali Hassan, met with Stephen Mbundi, the Permanent Secretary of the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, to advance bilateral cooperation and address key consular matters.
The discussions focused primarily on accelerating the visa issuance process for Somali citizens and ensuring the timely implementation of recent bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the two countries.
Amb. Hassan and Mbundi also explored the possibility of introducing visa-on-arrival options for Somali nationals. The initial phase would prioritize individuals holding diplomatic and service passports, with the potential to extend the policy to ordinary passport holders based on agreed eligibility criteria.
This meeting signifies a mutual commitment to deepening relations and easing mobility between the two nations, fostering stronger diplomatic and economic ties across the East African region.
