The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has secured the main supply route to a local airstrip in Jubbaland.
The Ethiopian contingent of ATMIS announced that the supply route is now secure and safe for use.
Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) troops based at Bardale and Bardheere worked together to secure the supply route.
Bardale and Bardheere are in Southwest and Jubbaland states respectively.
They secured the route sufficiently to ensure that humanitarian aid from the World Food Programme (WFP) reached the intended areas on time.
Hundreds of internally displaced persons (IDPs) benefited from the supplies.
