Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre called for the complete waiver of the new fees that the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation charged at the Aden Adde International Airport.
The Prime Minister announced this on Wednesday after visiting the airport.
He dashed to the airport after receiving reports of mayhem when departing passengers refused to pay the fee terming it an “illegality.”
Afterward, he called on the ministry and airport authorities to waive the fees.
He also called on travel agencies and the airlines to resume flights with immediate effect.
During his visit, Prime Minister Barre apologized to the passengers for the inconvenience caused by the early morning mayhem.
