Bay Regional Court Sentences Somali Man to Death for Murder

Baidoa, Somalia – The Bay Regional Court on Sunday concluded the trial of Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamud, who was accused of murdering Abshir Hassan Abdirahman.

Following the presentation of evidence and witness testimonies, the court found Mohamud guilty of intentional homicide.

In its ruling, the court sentenced the accused to death by firing squad, in accordance with Somali criminal law, after finding him guilty of committing the crime.

The decision underscores the seriousness with which the judiciary in the region addresses violent crimes.

The case has drawn public attention in Baidoa and surrounding areas, where calls for justice had been growing since the killing.
